If Fing does not identify a device correctly, you can correct that by editing the device information. You can correct both the device and operating system information.
Device Not Recognized (Fing Desktop and Fing Web App)
If your device was not recognized correctly on Fing Web App or Fing Desktop, do this.
- From the dashboard navigation menu, select Devices or select the Connected Devices card. The device detail page is displayed.
- Select No from the Did we Get it Right field at the bottom of the page to display available alternative devices, and if the correct device is displayed, select it.
Verify or Edit the Operating System Information
You can also identify the correct operating system or if it is incorrect, you can correct the information. From the Device detail page, you can see or scroll down to see the Operating System information.
If the OS information is incorrect, select the No -thumbs down button to display alternative OS options, and then select the correct operating system.
Device Not Recognized on Fing Mobile
If your device is not recognized on Fing Mobile, do this:
- From the Dashboard navigation bar, select See Devices, and then select a Device to recognize from the Device Detail page.
- If the device information is not accurate, in the Did we Get it Right field, select the Thumbs Down icon to display a list of possible available devices for accurate recognition.
- Select the correct device.
Verify or Edit the Device Operating System
To verify the operating system, scroll down the Device Detail page to show the OS version.
