Manage Device Inventory

You can make changes to your device inventory including changing device icons, naming or renaming devices, and removing devices.

Change device information icon on Fing Mobile App

1. From the Fing App home screen, select Overview > See Devices.
2. From the device list, click the device for which you want to change the icon
3. Click the Edit button
4. Click the Icon that is currently assigned to the device. This will bring up groups of different icons.
5. Click the icon you want to use. This will return you to the device page and a new icon will be selected for the device.
6. Enter some additional notes for the device. This will correctly identify the device and will be used if the device is misidentified.
7. Click the Save button and return to the Devices tab
8. Click the Account tab on the bottom toolbar
9. Click Account Storage
10. Click Synchronize
11. Restart your phone

Name or Rename Devices

Organize your device list by naming the devices on your network. To do this, click any device on your device list. This will take you to the Device details page where you can edit the details of the selected device. To do this:

Fing Web App

To change the name or location of your device, do this:

1. From the left navigation pane, select Devices or click on the Selected Devices Card.  The Devices page is displayed.
2. Select a device from the list and click Edit in the top right window as shown here. The Edit device details pop-up window prompts you to enter a name, location, and other information.
3. Complete the device details, and click Apply.

Click Edit at the top left of the page

Fing Desktop

Click Edit device details at the top centre of the page

The Add or change device details window is displayed. Here you can:

• Select a place: Add the location of the device. For example, a computer may be located in the study.
• Enter name for your device: Call the device whatever you want. For example, Violet’s Work Phone.
• Enter additional notes: Add notes for the device. For example, a phone may be due for an upgrade on a certain date.
• Important: Flag a device. The device's router will automatically be flagged as important. The flagging system can then be used when you are filtering your device list.
  • To flag a device on Fing Desktop: Select the device you wish to flag and click the Important button with the flag icon beside it at the top of the page
  • To flag a device on Fing Mobile App: Click Edit at the top left of the page and click the Important with the flag icon beside it

Remove a Device from the Device List

Fing Mobile

• From Overview, click the Devices widget or the blue See Devices button
• Click the device you want to remove. This will bring you to that device's Device detail page.
• Scroll down to the heading Manage this device and click the blue Remove device button

Fing Desktop

• From Overview, click the Devices tab on the left sidebar or the blue See all devices button in the Connected Devices widget
• Click the device you want to remove. This will bring you to that device's Device detail page.
• Click the Clear from device list button at the top right of the page
