Access Point
An Access Point is a device that creates a wireless local area network (WLAN). It connects to a wired router, switch, or hub using an Ethernet cable, and projects a Wi-Fi signal to a specific area. Every router has multiple network interface cards which is why routers can provide multiple frequencies (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz). These are different access points which have their own MAC addresses (BSSID).
Fing continuously scans nearby Wireless Access Points to troubleshoot and improve your AP coverage.
The tool scans your access points and neighbouring access points in range. You can display a list of access points.
Channels
The Wi-Fi Scanner tool helps you select the correct channel for your access points, so they do not create any conflict with neighbouring access points running on the same channel. Free channels have a green icon beside them and channels in use use by neighbours have an orange or yellow icon beside them.
From the Wi Fi scanner window, select Channels to display channel distribution and quality.
