Tools Dashboard - Fing

The Fing Desktop offers tools to verify optimum network connectivity, including the ability to run Internet speed tests and view DHCP discovery information, and tools to improve and maintain security including the ability to find open ports and hidden cameras on your network.   Fing Mobile App offers a subset of these tools.

Fing Desktop Tools

To access Fing Tools on Fing Desktop, from the dashboard left navigation menu, select Tools to display the Tools dashboard.

The Tools page is divided into two sections:

Verify Internet Connectivity

The tools in this section monitor and optimize network connectivity.   See each Tool for detailed information.

  • Run Health Check:  Check if your network has connection issues.
  • Run Speed Test: Calculate how fast you can download and upload data.
  • DNS Benchmark: Benchmark your DNS servers to find the optimal setup.
  • Ping a Target:  Visualize connection times to reach devices, servers, and web domains.
  • StartTraceroute:  Display the path and measure the transit delays across a network.
  • DNS Lookup:  Perform forward and reverse DNS resolutions to a server.
  • DHCP Discovery:  Display DHCP server and request information to investigate and solve connection issues.
  • Wi Fi Scanner:  Scan Wi Fi networks to find the best one for you.

Improve Network security

This section monitors and improves the security of your network using the following tools:

Find Open Ports: Probe a server or host for open ports and verify the security policies of a network.

  • Test Router Vulnerabilities:  Find ports opened through  UPnP and NAT-PMP that may lead to external access.
  • Find Hidden Cameras: Detect hidden cameras in the current network. Separate searches will need to be done for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz to fully verify cameras on your network.

Fing Mobile App Tools

From the Fing Mobile App, select Tools from the home page toolbar to see which tools are available.

On Fing Mobile App, some tools are not available in particular conditions due to connection restrictions:
