Scan Your Network Away from Home or Remotely

Fing can scan or manage your networks and devices seamlessly from a remote location or a different place from where you are located in the same way you scan your network at your physical location.  You can manage your network remotely using Fing Mobile App and either a Fing Desktop or other Fing Agent.  For example,  you can monitor network activity in one location without having to be physically present, or while you are on the go using your mobile phone.  You can get updates, for example, who or which device joined or went offline on your network while you were away.

You do not have to perform any additional tasks to monitor a network in a different location but as with normal operation, you need to make sure that monitoring for that network is enabled.  See Working with Monitored Networks.

In this example, two networks are being monitored, B628_ADB0 and VM8019707.

VM8019707 is being monitored remotely by Fing Mobile using a Fing Agent connected at the remote location.  Select the remote network VM8019707 under Monitored Networks to show activity.

B628_ADB0 is being monitored by Fing Mobile locally at the location.   To switch between the monitored networks, select which one you want to view.

Manage your Network Remotely Network Using Fing Mobile App

To monitor a network using Fing Mobile App, including one that is not physically where you are located, you need to have a Fing desktop agent or other Fing agent installed and enabled for monitoring.   When you install the agent, the agent icon will automatically be displayed on your mobile app under the network name as in the example below.

1.  Make sure a Fing Agent is visible on your mobile device.

Select the circular icon with 3 dots on the top right part of the mobile screen to display monitored networks. If the desktop network icon does not appear, you can manually select your desktop network to appear in the home dashboard of your mobile.

The current, monitored, and manually scanned networks are displayed.

Confirm that Monitoring is Enabled under Monitored Networks.
