Set Network Limits (Parental Controls)

You can schedule regular internet downtimes, for example, parental control of internet devices.

You can stop a user's device from accessing the Internet during specific times or days, such as homework time for your children.  Schedules that specify common limits for homework and bedtime are automatically set up for convenience.  You can use these, modify them, or create new schedules.  You can also delete or delay any set schedules.

Use this two-step process to set network limits:

  • Specify the schedule/limits you want to implement or use the defaults.
  • Apply the limits to selected users.

Lack of Permission to Apply Schedule

To fix this, do this:

  1. Open the Desktop dashboard, and select Network on the left sidebar or navigation bar.
  2. If the section Pause/Block device is missing from the Network window, it means you have not accepted the Terms and Conditions.  See Block a Device Using Fing Desktop.

Your Network Context is not set to Home or Office

The network context must be set to Home or Office to use the internet downtime or block and pause feature.  If the network context has not be set to Home or Office, you wll see this message.

Check your network validation by clicking on the Network tab on the sidebar and reaching the section Pause/Block Devices.
