Network Insights

The Fing Desktop and Web App provide at-a-glance and granular information on your network devices at the brand, model, and device type levels.  These insights include distribution spread by model and type, product classifications, for example by price or popularity, and warranty information so you can easily know when your devices will be out of warranty.

View Network Insights

When you launch Fing Web App or Fing Desktop, the Network Insights window is included as part of the Dashboard display.  To display this window at any time, select Insights from the left navigation bar on Fing Web App or scroll down on the Dashboard to view the Insights About Your Device section.

The Network Insights window shows your devices by brand, for example, Apple,  Samsung, and others, and your Devices by Profile.  In this Fing Desktop example, six devices are categorized as personal (apple iPhones and laptops), one is categorized as networking (home router), and one is categorized as DigitalMedia (Samsung TV).

The Fing Insights feature presents a layered view and you can easily navigate between overview information providing a collective view of all device types and individual device information using the Explore option on each window as shown in this Fing Web App example.

Device Distribution

The Device Distribution graph shows Devices By Profile, Device Recognition (Full or Partial), and Smart Home Integrations.  Full recognition means that the Device Brand, and Model are identified and displayed.   In this example, the iPhone 13 identified by Brand: Apple, Family: iPhone, and  Model:  iPhone 13,  is one of the devices shown as a fully recognized device.  Partial recognition means that some of these characteristics are not recognized.   In this example, the Samsung and home router are partially recognized.    Brand, family, and model are not available for the home router, and brand is recognized for the Samsung but family and model are not available.   The information provided depends on the information available to Fing.
