Fing Mobile App Settings

Fing mobile app includes a number of settings to enhance security and privacy, and to customize your environment.  Many of these settings are enabled by default but you can disable them from the App Settings screen. You do not need to configure any of these settings for normal operation.

Display App Settings

  • To display the App Settings window, from the Dashboard, select Account to display the Account window.
  • Under Settings, select App Settings.

Device Recognition

By default, you can see brand, type, and model of your devices.

Reverse DNS

With Reverse DNS enabled, Fing searches the fully qualified names of IP addresses.

Confirm Speed Test on Cellular

This setting is useful if you need to conserve battery on your mobile phone.

Mask MAC addresses

Mask MAC addresses hides the last part of IP addresses in the Fing App and App exports.   This setting is useful if you want to share share exports but don't want to reveal  full IP addresses.

Theme

Configure whether you want to use the Fing App in Light or Dark mode.

Maximum network size

Forces the maximum size of the current discovery or scan.

Force network size can be useful if it takes excessive time to complete a network scan.  In most cases,  Fing completes the scan successfully and promptly but sometimes it perceives the network is much bigger (in terms of devices) than it is, and it might take a long time to finish the scan.   These situations are rare so Fing recommends leaving this setting as is (Not Specified) as this setting works for most environments.
