The Growth of Fing
The Fing network scanner was founded in 2009 by two experts in computer networking, IoT devices, and network security, Carlo Medas and Marco De Angelis.
Since first launching in 2009, Fing has become the leading Internet of Things Technologies provider for mobile phone. What’s even more, is that the Fing network scanning app has grown to millions of users without any marketing spend, just because of its superior network scanning and device recognition capabilities.
The growth of Fing
To date, the free Fing network scanning application for iOS and Android has seen impressive metrics including:
- More than 35 million downloads
- Over 1 million network scans are performed every day
- Discovery of over 15 billion IoT device types a year

Fing Desktop Launch
Aside from continuing to improve our service offerings & adding new functionality (such as ISP information & Internet Outage functionality), in February 2020 we launched a brand new product; Fing Desktop. We have created Fing Desktop to integrate network scanning in your desktop/laptop with more precise and accurate results than the Fing App. You can easily share your scan results with friends and/or the Fing Community in order to help troubleshoot your network issues. To easily enjoy all the products of the Fing Suite, you can access Fing Desktop with the same account as the Fing App.
Fing Desktop allows a far more precise engine than the Fing mobile app, but doesn’t require a purchase of a dedicated hardware. To read more about Fing Desktop, please visit: Fing Desktop
