Manage Fing Notifications

Fing provides various types of notification and content updates ranging from network and device updates to emails and content with useful tips for optimizing your network. These notifications are managed through your Profile settings in Fing.

Fing notifications, alerts, and emails tell you what is happening on your network, for example, a network outage, a new device going offline, or a new device entering your network. Notifications are messages that are displayed on your Fing app regarding network changes or updates, and emails are generated in the form of reports or records. Notifications also include Fing Newsletter and Fing Content Updates. Notifications are enabled by default but you can manage or disable them through the Profile settings on Fing desktop, Fing Web App, and Fing Mobile and Mobile Controlled Agents.

Notification types managed through the Profile settings include:

Newsletters (Fing Newsletter Provided by Fing Marketing)
Content Updates (Content Updates Provided by Fing Marketing)
Network Events (Notifications about all network and device changes and updates). You view Network Events from the Timeline of Events window on Fing.
ISP Updates (Internet Outages in My Area)

Manage Notifications, Emails, and Alerts

You can control which notifications you want to receive through your Profile settings.

You can enable or disable emails, messages about network events, messages about network outages, and newsletter and content updates. For example, you can enable notifications about network outages and emails, and disable other network updates.

Manage Notifications in Fing Desktop and Fing Web App

To manage notifications from your Profile settings on Fing Desktop and Fing Web App, do this:

From the Fing Dashboard left navigation bar, select the drop down menu beside your name, and select Edit Profile. The Profile window is displayed. The Notifications Settings Field shows you the types of notifications provided by Fing and which you can manage as well as the language used.
Select Edit Notifications to change or view your notification delivery settings. The Notifications field controls the Newsletter and Content Updates. In this example, the Newsletter is enabled and Content Updates are disabled. The Internet Provider Events field controls messages about Internet outages in your area. In this example, these messages are enabled. The Network Event field controls both alerts about network changes and updates, and emails. In this example, network alerts are enabled and emails disabled.
Select your preferences (Enabled/Disabled) for each of the three fields circled above.

Manage Notifications on Fing Mobile or Mobile Controlled Monitoring Agents

To control Fing notifications on Fing Mobile, do this:

Select Account from the dashboard navigation bar on the lower part of the screen, and then select Notification Settings. The Notification Settings window is displayed.
In this example, the newsletter is disabled, content updates are enabled, Internet Outage messages are enabled, mail message delivery is disabled, and network event notifications are enabled.
Select whichever preferences you want (Enabled or Disabled) for each of the options in the Notifications Setup window shown above.

Disable Notifications on Fing Desktop and Fing Web App

You may sometimes decide that you don't want to receive Fing communications To disable notifications on Fing Desktop and Fing Web App, including emails, do this:

Select your Name/Profile from the Fing dashboard left navigation bar, and then select Edit Profile to display the profile window.
From the Profile window, select Edit Notifications Settings to display the Network Events window.
In the Send me emails about network settings field, select Do not send as shown above.
In the Send me mobile notifications about network events, select Do not send as shown above.

Disable Notifications and Alerts from Fing on Fing Mobile and Mobile Controlled Monitoring Units

To disable Fing communications on Fing Mobile, do this:

Select Account from the dashboard navigation bar on the lower part of the screen, and then select Notification Settings. The Notification Settings window is displayed.
In the Send mail alert as field, select Do Not Send.
In the Send notifications as field, select Do Not Send.

View Network Events

Network Events can be viewed in one place through the Timeline of Events feature on Fing Web App and Fing Mobile or Mobile Controlled monitoring unit. If you disable notifications for network events, the events are still recorded and shown through the Timeline of Events. Use the Timeline of Events feature to filter and customize which events you want to view. See Timeline of Events for information on understanding Fing events and notifications. To view events on Fing Desktop, select Overview > Network > View Timeline.
