From the Fing Internet View, you can view and monitor your Internet performance and how it compares to average ISP performance in your area. This allows you to easily see if your internet is slower or faster than other IPSs. You can see your current internet speed, your ISP provider, and average speed over a specified number of days. You can also run an Internet Speed Test (Fing Desktop and Mobile) or view the results of the latest speed test performed (Fing Web App). See Internet Speed Test for how to do this and understand the results.
Here is an example of the Internet and ISP information available from the Internet View.
.
Display the Internet View on Fing Web App
On Fing Web App and Fing Desktop, Select Overview > Internet to display the Internet Window shown above or select the Internet Performance card (Fing Web App) on the dashboard.
View the Results of the Latest Internet Speed Test
The first part of the Internet view window, Last Speed test, shows the result of the latest speed test performed. You cannot perform a speed test directly using Fing Web App but you can see the result of the last speed test performed (Upload and Download Speeds and Latency) using Fing Desktop or Fing Mobile. You can also schedule up to 6 tests to run every day.
Performance Trends
The Performance Trends section shows your Internet performance over a specified period -- 7, 14, 21 or 28 days. With a Fing Starter subscription, you can see Internet performance over 7 days maximum, and unlimited for Fing Premium and Professional. To view a past record of speed tests and results, select the Timeline button.
Select Send Report to email yourself a report of your ISP performance over time and how your Interent service rates in your area. The green arrows indicate how your ISP is trending (in this example, the ISP is trending up 4%). The trend is calculated by comparing the average over the selected period of 7, 14, 21, or 28 days X3. A minimum of 3 weeks is needed. If there is not enough data for 3 weeks, the arrow or trend is not available.
Internet Performance Benchmark
The Internet Performance Benchmark compares the average ISP speed in your area to your ISP speed based on a number of tests. In this example, the ISP speeds (both Upload and Download) are considerably higher than the average. The numbers along the horizontal lines show speed ranges calculated using an average from 5 ISP providers in each range from worst to best so you can also see where your ISP performance fits on the overall scale.
The spread betweeen the numbers gives you more information as to how the ISPs in your area rate. If the spread in the range is wide, there is significant difference between the ISPs in your area, and if narrow, less difference in ISP performance. This information is valuable if you suspect a problem with your interent service -- you can use it in communications with your service provider or for help in selecting an ISP.
