Private Address
Private Address is a relatively new feature which can provide a different IP address/Mac address for a device on a network, regardless of whether it knows and trusts the device, or if the device has been connected to the network before.
This can cause a range of issues for all network toolkits, such as Fing. We advise you to disable this functionality if you are connecting to and testing on a trusted, home network.
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
To disable Private Address:
- Open the Settings app
- Click Wi-Fi
- Click the More Info button beside a network
- Turn off Private Wi-Fi Address. If your device joined the network without using a private address, a privacy warning explains why.
Note: These instructions may not be applicable to your situation and device. You may need to research the device(s) to disable Private Addressing. Contact your device's manufacturer.
